Three players form a triangle and play quick one-touch passes in a set pattern: pass and move to the next position. Excellent for developing first-time passing technique and understanding of movement patterns in tight areas.
Setup
Place 3 cones in a triangle, 8-10 yards apart. One player at each cone. Extra players queue behind each cone. Ball starts at one cone, player passes and follows to the next cone in sequence.
Coaching Points
- +Set your body before the ball arrives — open up to the next target
- +Strike through the middle of the ball for accuracy
- +Weight of pass is critical at one-touch — too hard and partner cannot control, too soft and it holds up play
- +Timing of the movement is as important as the pass itself
Progressions
- 1.Add a fourth cone in the middle for a wall-pass combination
- 2.Play two-touch then one-touch on coach command
- 3.Compete: how many passes in 60 seconds without losing control
- 4.Reverse direction on whistle
