Description
Players dribble through a circuit of cones, performing a specific move at each station — Cruyff turn, step-over, drag-back, and inside-outside cut. The circuit develops close ball control, body feints, and the ability to change direction at speed. Players complete multiple laps, increasing pace as they grow more comfortable with each technique.
Setup
Set up 4-6 cones in a circuit roughly 5 yards apart. Each cone represents a station where a specific move is performed. Players line up at the start with a ball each and go one at a time with 3-second gaps.
Coaching Points
- +Sell the fake before executing the move — drop a shoulder or shift weight to commit the imaginary defender
- +Keep the ball within playing distance using soft touches between stations
- +Accelerate explosively out of each turn to simulate beating a defender
- +Use both feet — alternate which foot performs the move on each lap
Progressions
- 1.Add a passive defender at one station who applies light pressure
- 2.Time each lap and challenge players to beat their personal best
- 3.Call out random moves at each cone instead of a fixed sequence
