Description
A fast-paced dribbling game where 2-3 taggers (without balls) try to tag dribblers who are moving with a ball inside a grid. When tagged, a player is "frozen" and must stand with their ball above their head until a free teammate dribbles through their legs to unfreeze them. This game builds dribbling under pressure, awareness of teammates in need, and the willingness to take risks to help others.
Setup
25x25 yard grid marked with cones. Every player has a ball except 2-3 designated taggers who wear bibs. Taggers tag dribblers by touching them with their hand. Frozen players stand with ball overhead.
Coaching Points
- +Dribble with your head up so you can see taggers coming and frozen teammates who need help
- +Use changes of speed — accelerate away from taggers, slow down in open space
- +Be a good teammate — take the risk to unfreeze someone even if a tagger is nearby
- +Use both feet to dribble and change direction to keep taggers guessing
Progressions
- 1.Increase the number of taggers to make survival harder
- 2.Frozen players can only be unfrozen by a nutmeg (ball through their legs) while maintaining dribble control
- 3.Add a time limit — taggers must freeze everyone within 90 seconds to win
