Description
Players execute two quick one-touch passes and then sprint into space to receive the final ball. The drill emphasizes the rhythm of pass-pass-move that unlocks tight defenses, and teaches players to keep their body open to play forward quickly. Each repetition requires crisp technique at speed, building the muscle memory for rapid combination play in match situations.
Setup
Set up a 25x15 yard channel with cones. Players work in groups of 3-4. Player A passes to B, B returns first time, A plays forward to C, then sprints past C to receive in the space ahead. All players shift one position. Repeat continuously up and down the channel.
Coaching Points
- +Open your body before receiving so you can play the return pass forward without extra touches
- +Keep passes on the ground and firm — sloppy passes slow the combination and let defenders recover
- +Sprint into space the moment the second pass leaves your foot — the timing gap is tiny
- +Receive across your body to play in the direction you want to go, not back toward the passer
Progressions
- 1.Restrict to one touch throughout — any extra touch means the group restarts
- 2.Add a fourth player and extend to a triple pass-and-move pattern
- 3.Place two small goals at each end and finish with a shot after the final pass
