Description
A fast-paced 2v2 game played in a small grid with four mini goals, one on each side. Players must scan constantly to find the undefended goal and attack it quickly. This format maximizes ball contacts, develops 360-degree awareness, and teaches young players to exploit space and make quick decisions under pressure in tight areas.
Setup
Mark a 15x15-yard grid. Place one mini goal (cones 2 yards apart) in the centre of each side. Two teams of 2 players. Play to 5 goals, then rotate opponents. Scoring is allowed in any of the four goals. Balls around the outside for quick restarts.
Coaching Points
- +Head up constantly — scan all four goals to find which one is open
- +Change direction quickly when the defenders shift — attack the space they left
- +Use a fake shot at one goal to draw the defender, then switch to another goal
- +If you cannot score, protect the ball and wait for your partner to create an angle
Progressions
- 1.Add a neutral player who always joins the attacking team for 3v2 advantage
- 2.Require a one-two pass before scoring to encourage combination play
- 3.Shrink the grid to 12x12 yards to increase pressure and speed of play
