AI Practice Plans & Soccer Drills for Youth Coaches
Planning a quality practice session takes time — time most volunteer coaches don't have. MatchdayIQ's AI practice planner builds structured, age-appropriate sessions in seconds from a curated library of 100+ drills covering every skill area.
How It Works
- 1.Choose your team, session length, and practice day
- 2.Select focus areas — passing, shooting, defending, set pieces, and more
- 3.The AI assembles a structured plan with warm-up, drills, and cool-down
- 4.Review, customize, print, or save for later
100+ Curated Drills
Every drill in the library includes detailed setup instructions, coaching points, progressions, equipment needed, and a visual diagram. Drills are tagged by skill focus, age group, player count, and intensity so the AI picks the right ones for your session.

AI Customization
The AI doesn't just pick drills — it tailors each one to your team. Drill durations are adjusted to fit your session length, and the AI adds context-aware coaching notes based on your age group and focus areas. You can also add specific notes like "work on weak foot" or "prepare for Saturday's cup game" and the plan adapts.
Visual Drill Diagrams
Each drill includes a visual setup diagram showing player positions, cone placement, movement paths, and passing lanes. No more scribbling on notepads — just pull up the plan on your phone at the field.
Print & Share
Print your practice plan to bring to the field, or view it right on your phone. Plans are saved to your team so you can reuse or reference them throughout the season.
Attendance Tracking
Track which players attend each practice. Attendance data flows into player report cards and season statistics, giving you a complete picture of each player's commitment alongside their game performance.
Sample Drills
Rondo 4v1 Warm-Up
Passing · First Touch · Possession
Four players keep the ball from one defender in a 10x10 yard grid. Two-touch maximum. Defender who wins the ball swaps with the player who lost it.
Coaching point: Body shape open to receive — half-turned before the ball arrives.
1v1 to Goal
Dribbling · Tackling · Finishing
Attacker receives a pass 25 yards from goal and must beat a defender 1v1 before shooting. Defender starts 5 yards behind and must close down quickly.
Coaching point: Attacker should commit the defender before making a move — don't show your hand early.
Counter-Attack 3v2
Transition · Speed · Decision Making
Three attackers break against two defenders from the halfway line. Emphasis on quick forward passing and making runs in behind rather than dribbling into traffic.
Coaching point: First pass should be forward — if it goes sideways, the chance is gone.
