Match Preparation

Before each game, open the Prep tab to plan your tactical approach. Fill in structured sections for:

• +Tactical approach— your game plan in a sentence (e.g. "High press, play out from the back")
• +Opponent notes — formation, key players, tendencies
• +Key matchups — who marks who
• +Set pieces — attacking and defending corners, free kicks, and goal kicks
• +Team talk — a pre-game message for your players

Notes are editable before kick-off and become read-only once the game starts, so they serve as a permanent record of your pre-match thinking.

Opponent Scouting

Every time you enter an opponent name, MatchdayIQ checks for an existing scouting report. If you've played them before, your notes — formation, key players, tactical tendencies, and set piece observations — are loaded automatically.

After each game, scouting data is saved so your knowledge compounds over time. The second time you face an opponent, you start with everything you learned from the first meeting.

Lineup History

When setting up a new game, expand Past Lineups to see your last 10 games with formation, result, and fairness score. Tap any past game to reuse its formation and starting lineup — players are matched to the correct positions automatically, even if you switch formations.

Staff Notes

Multiple coaches can add observations to the same game, organized by tactical phase:

• •Buildup play
• •Pressing
• •Transitions
• •Set pieces
• •General

Each note is attributed to the coach who wrote it. Assistant coaches can capture observations during the game while you focus on managing subs and tactics. Notes appear in the post-game summary grouped by phase and half.

Cross-Game Trend Analysis

One game tells a story — ten games reveal patterns. From the team page, tap Analyze Trends to get AI-powered insights across your recent games. The analysis identifies:

• +Improving trends— what's getting better (e.g. "Clean sheets in 3 of last 4 games")
• +Declining trends— areas of concern (e.g. "Conceding in the final 10 minutes regularly")
• +Priority focus — the single most important thing to work on next

Results are cached and only regenerated when new games are completed, so you can check trends anytime without waiting.

Enhanced AI Post-Game Analysis

Academy IQ games get deeper AI analysis beyond the standard Coach IQ report. The enhanced report adds:

• +Tactical phase breakdown — analysis of buildup, pressing, transitions, and set pieces
• +Position group notes — specific feedback for defenders, midfielders, forwards, and goalkeeper
• +Training priorities — concrete drills and focus areas for your next practice based on what happened in the game

Game Prep PDF

Print or share a landscape PDF that combines everything your coaching staff needs before kick-off:

• •Opponent scouting report
• •Tactical approach and key matchups
• •Set piece assignments (attacking + defending)
• •Starting lineup with formation diagram
• •Bench and unavailable players
• •Cross-game trends (if available)

Training-Match Linkage

When creating a practice plan, you can link it to an upcoming game. The AI practice plan generator uses the latest game analysis to suggest drills that address weaknesses identified in recent matches — closing the loop between match day and the training ground.

Shared Across Your Coaching Staff

Academy IQ is a per-team subscription. Any coach or manager on the team can use all Academy IQ features — match prep, staff notes, opponent scouting, and enhanced analysis. One subscription covers your entire coaching staff.
