Description

All players dribble inside a confined grid while simultaneously trying to kick other players' balls out of the area and protecting their own. When a player's ball is knocked out, they perform a skill challenge (juggling, toe taps) outside the grid and then re-enter. This chaotic, competitive drill develops close ball control under pressure, spatial awareness, and the ability to shield the ball.

Setup

Mark a 15x15 yard grid with corner cones. Every player has a ball and starts inside the grid. On the whistle, players dribble while trying to knock others' balls out. Last player remaining wins the round.

Coaching Points

  • +Keep the ball close with small touches — a big touch leaves you vulnerable
  • +Use your body to shield the ball when opponents approach, positioning yourself between them and the ball
  • +Scan constantly to identify threats and open space before they arrive
  • +Attack opportunities when other players lose focus — but never leave your own ball unprotected

Progressions

  1. 1.Shrink the grid by 2 yards every 60 seconds to increase pressure
  2. 2.Eliminated players become "sharks" without a ball who can kick out remaining balls
  3. 3.Require players to use only their weaker foot for dribbling
